Discover Lunenburg’s rum-running past as our guides share with you the characters and stories that marked the colourful, and sometimes dangerous, Prohibition era. You’ll explore Lunenburg by boat and by foot during this exclusive, small-group excursion.
Your adventure begins on Lunenburg’s famous waterfront, where you’ll climb aboard a traditional fishing vessel for a tour around our beautiful harbour, infused with tales of rum-running and a glimpse of Black Beauty! After docking, your guide will lead you along our working waterfront, as we head toward Ironworks Distillery – Nova Scotia’s first artisan distillery.
Enjoy an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit with distiller insights, while tasting an array of award-winning spirits, including the famous Rum Boat Rum. Sample local delicacies and flavours such as Solomon Gundy and Lunenburg pudding – German food traditions unique to our area. Finish with a memorable, private cocktail hour aboard the historic schooner, Theresa E. Connor, where you’ll be charmed by tales of folklore and sea-faring superstitions (and learn why you should never whistle on a vessel).
